I’ve been writing speeches for a quarter century now for leaders in politics, advocacy, labour and business. (Just politically, that’s three national party leaders, four provincial premiers, four throne speeches, four budget speeches, four national election campaigns, two Vancouver mayors and lots of candidates, Members of Parliament and cabinet ministers.)
More recently, I’ve been exploring the integration of public speaking and social media. The idea: to turn speeches into conversations, and fuse the intimacy of personal presentation with the reach and relationship-building power of networked community. I call it the social speech, and you can follow some of my work on the Social Speech Podcast.
